About Nexby
Nexby is a set of twelve everyday utilities — an image compressor, an exact-size photo resizer, a word counter, a text cleaner, an age calculator, a date counter, a percentage calculator, a marks and CGPA calculator, and four rupee tools: Zakat, gold weight, compound interest and EMI. Every one of them was built because a bigger tool made a simple job feel heavy: waiting for an upload, hitting a login wall, or getting a watermark on the file you needed in the next ninety seconds.
How the tools work
They run inside your browser. The compressor uses the canvas API that already exists in your copy of Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge: it decodes your photo, redraws it at the size and quality you chose, and exports a new file. The word counter and text cleaner are string operations on the page. The calculators are arithmetic.
There is deliberately no upload endpoint. Your files and your text are not sent to us, not queued on a server, and not stored in a database we would have to secure, back up, and eventually delete on request. That also means a 12 MB photo takes milliseconds rather than a slow-connection upload.
How the numbers are checked
Each calculator is built on a published formula rather than a rule of thumb, and every result panel prints the formula it used so you can reproduce it in a spreadsheet. Date maths is done in UTC calendar arithmetic, which is why an age or a day count here does not shift by one near daylight-saving or month boundaries. Gold weights use the metric tola of 11.664 g (180 grains, twelve masha) and standard karat fineness; interest uses the compound and annuity formulas with the frequency you select; Zakat uses the 87.48 g gold and 612.36 g silver nisab weights.
Rates that change are never hard-coded as truth. Gold price, profit rates, board grading divisions and admission weightings are fields you fill from today's bazaar, your bank or your university's own brochure — the tool computes, it does not claim to know the current figure. Where an official rule differs by board, province or year, the page says so instead of guessing. Report a calculation you think is wrong through the contact page and it is treated as a bug, not feedback.
Why it is free
The site carries a small number of display ads. That is the whole business model: no premium tier, no "3 free uses", no email collection, no selling your usage to anyone. If a tool costs you something other than glancing at an ad, that is a bug and you should tell us.
Who builds it
Nexby is an independent project maintained by a single developer working from Pakistan. Tools are written for the constraints people here actually run into — a portal that rejects a photo above 200 KB, an instalment plan quoted at "3% per month", or a zakat calculation that needs silver nisab in rupees rather than in grams.
