Days Between Two Dates — Add or Subtract Days and Months
Notices, visas, contracts and assignment deadlines are all written as a span of days — but the tricky part is whether the start day counts, and whether thirty days means thirty days or one month. Enter two dates and get both readings, plus a shift calculator that pushes a date forward or backward by real calendar months.
- A gap between two dates is "end − start": 1 January to 31 January is 30 days apart, but 31 days if you count every day you include.
- Deadlines that say "within 30 days" normally exclude the start day, so day 30 is the last working day.
- Leap years add a day to February, which is why two dates a year apart are sometimes 365 and sometimes 366 days.
- Time zones do not matter here — every date is treated as a plain calendar day at midnight UTC.
- Choose between the two modes — Use days between two dates for a span, or add or subtract from a date when you have a start date plus a notice period.
- Enter the dates as YYYY-MM-DD — Either use the picker or type them. The tool rejects impossible dates such as 31 February instead of silently moving to March.
- Read the four counts — Total days, weeks plus leftover days, the calendar split into years, months and days, and working days Monday to Friday with weekends counted separately.
- Use the shortcut chips — In shift mode the 30, 60, 90, 180 and 365-day buttons set common notice periods in one tap, and the result shows the weekday you land on.
- Every date is treated as a UTC calendar day, so daylight saving and time zones cannot make your count one day short.
- Months are clamped to the last valid day, which is why 31 January plus one month becomes 28 or 29 February rather than spilling into March.
- Weekday counts exclude Saturday and Sunday only — public holidays differ by province and year, so confirm those with your own calendar.
- Nothing you type is stored or uploaded; the arithmetic runs entirely on the page.
Days Between Dates — questions
Do you count the start date or the end date?
The headline number is a plain difference, so the start day is excluded — 1 January to 5 January reads as 4 days. The result panel also shows the inclusive count, which adds one, because a notice period written as "30 days including today" needs that second figure.
How many days is 30 September to 31 December?
92 days apart, or 93 if you count both ends. The calendar split reads as 3 months and 0 days because September, October and November are each completed in turn — a useful check when a rule is written in months rather than days.
Why are working days fewer than total days?
The working-day figure only removes Saturdays and Sundays, so a 30-day span that starts on a Monday has 22 working days. Government and bank holidays in Pakistan are not subtracted because they change every year — subtract the notified list for your month.
Is 2026 a leap year?
No. The next leap year after 2024 is 2028, so February 2026 ends on the 28th. That matters for a bond, lease or notice that crosses February, where the same date range can be one day longer or shorter than you expect.
Can I find a date that is N days before a deadline?
Yes. Switch to add or subtract from a date, pick Backward, then enter the number of days — for example 30 days before a 31 October submission is 1 October, shown with its weekday so you can see if it lands on a holiday weekend.
Does this handle dates across many years?
It handles any date from 1900 to 2100 in either mode. Long spans are reported in years, months and remaining days as well as total days, weeks, hours and minutes, so you can compare a contract term written in two different ways.
