Word Counter With Social Media Character Limits
A plain word counter tells you one number. This one shows words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, reading time and — the part everyone actually needs — whether your text still fits X, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, an SMS or a Google meta description, updating live as you type.
Green means it fits. Red means the platform will cut you off mid-sentence.
- Paste or type — Drop your essay, caption or article into the box. Counts change on every keystroke.
- Watch the limit bars — Each platform shows used / allowed. A bar turns red the moment the post will be cut off.
- Check repeated words — The keyword table shows which words you lean on, ignoring filler like "the" and "and".
- Take it with you — Copy the text, download it as a .txt, or paste straight from your clipboard.
- Character counting matches how platforms behave, so what fits here fits there.
- Reading time at 200 wpm and speaking time at 130 wpm for scripts and voice-overs.
- Handles Urdu and other non-Latin text — the word splitter is Unicode-aware.
- Nothing is stored or sent anywhere; the counts are computed in the page you are already looking at.
Word Counter — questions
How many characters fit in an Instagram caption or an X post?
X allows 280 characters, Instagram captions 2200, Instagram bios 150, TikTok captions 2200, LinkedIn posts 3000, Facebook posts a very generous 63,206, YouTube titles 100 and descriptions 5000, WhatsApp status 139, and one SMS 160. This tool lists all of them with live bars.
Do emojis and Urdu text count correctly?
Emojis take more than one character in most platform counters, so leave a little headroom if a caption is packed with them. Urdu, Arabic and other right-to-left scripts count by word normally — the splitter is Unicode-aware rather than assuming a–z.
What is a good word count for SEO articles?
For a page competing on a real search phrase, 1,200–2,000 words usually covers the topic without padding. Length alone does not rank a page; a tight 900-word answer that fully resolves the query beats a stretched 2,500-word one.
How is reading time calculated?
Words divided by 200 per minute, the standard adult silent-reading pace. Speaking time uses 130 words per minute, which is close to a comfortable narrated pace. Technical or dense text will take longer than either number.
Does it count spaces in the character total?
Both. The Characters figure includes spaces because most social platforms count them against you, and "No spaces" sits next to it for forms and passwords that exclude them.
Can teachers or students rely on this for assignments?
Yes for the number itself — hyphenated words count as one and contractions count as one, which is the usual academic convention. If your instructor counts differently, use the words figure as a guide and keep a margin.
